How to get into the Google 3-Pack

What the Google 3-Pack is, why those three map spots get most of the clicks, and how a local business competes for one.

Who this is for. For local businesses that show up somewhere in Google results but never in the map box at the top, where most customers actually click.

Signs this is your problem

  • Searching your service plus your town shows three competitors in the map box, not you.
  • Your Google Business Profile is unclaimed, half-filled, or has no photos.
  • Your last Google review is years old, or unanswered.
  • Your profile lists the wrong category, hours, or service area.

What the 3-Pack is

Search "plumber norman ok" and Google shows a map with three businesses above the regular results. That box is the 3-Pack, and it takes most of the clicks for local searches.

Those three spots are not ads and not random. Google fills them using relevance, distance, and prominence, and all three are things you can influence.

What Google weighs

Relevance: does your profile clearly say what you do, with the right business categories and services listed? Distance: are you actually near the searcher, with an accurate service area? Prominence: does Google trust you, based on reviews, photos, consistent listings, and a website that backs the profile up?

A half-empty profile fails all three tests at once. Prominence is simply Google’s word for trust, and it is earned with the same signals customers respond to: reviews, photos, and information that checks out.

What we do about it

We claim the profile if nobody has, fix the categories, complete every section, add current photos, and line the profile up with your website so the two agree. We also set you up to ask for and answer reviews, because steady reviews are the strongest prominence signal a small business controls.

Most profile cleanups finish in just a few days. Movement in the 3-Pack follows as Google re-evaluates, typically over the following weeks.

Common questions

Can you guarantee a 3-Pack spot?

No, and nobody honest can. The 3-Pack changes by search and by location. We fix the factors Google weighs so you compete for it.

Do I need a website for this?

A profile can rank alone, but Google cross-checks it against your website. A site that agrees with the profile strengthens both.

What about reviews?

We cannot write them for you, and fake ones get businesses suspended. We set up a simple way to ask real customers and show you how to respond.
